Krishnakumar was born at Neyyattinkara, a suburb of Thiruvananthapuram. After completing his Masters in Malayalam Language and Literature and M.Phil in Folklore, he is working on his doctorate in Women Knowledge Systems in Northern Kerala and has presented many academic papers at National Folklore seminars. In his capacity as the Assistant Editor of the State Institute of Encyclopaedia under the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala, he is heading the art section and has prepared nearly a thousand academic articles on various art topics for the Encyclopaedia.     Along with establishing himself as a creative contributor he has carved a niche for himself as a screenplay writer for films and television serials, playwright, author of children’s books, copywriter for advertisements and for conceptualising mega events. He has also earned recognition as a TV presenter by hosting the programme Saranapadham, telecast on Amrita TV.  Krishnakumar is also the script writer of the first full length Animated Malayalam feature film, “Manikantan”, being produced by Nalin Singh under the IndiaTales banner.
