Manikantan: A Mural Journey – The Coffee Table Book

A tribute to Kerala Temple Mural Art, a unique and beautiful part of India’s cultural heritage. Manikantan: A Mural Journey includes Global, Indian & Kerala Mural Art’s history and vividly explains the most famous Kerala-based mythological story, that of Lord Ayyappa .
More than 60 specially commissioned photographs of temple art, many never published before appear in this book. The book also includes images of the thirty stunning new murals on canvas that have been specially commissioned by IndiaTales in support of a new generation of artists reviving the hallowed tradition of Kerala Mural Art.
These thirty murals depict the life of the boy Prince Manikantan and the story of Sabarimala along with textual commentary in Malayalam (Kerala’s native language) and English. These 30 murals have been specially commissioned by IndiaTales and have been crafted by Trivandrum, Kerala based artist Prince Thonnakal. Nalin Singh, IndiaTales’ MD who is a keen collector of art himself, has co-authored this book along with S. Krishnakumar, an expert on Indian folklore and mythology.
