The Story
Manikantan Geet Mala is the first album to Lord Ayyappa by
famed Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja. The eight-song album is
available in the four major south Indian languages. The best
lyricists translated the songs from Ilaiyaraaja's native Tamil.
Ilaiyaraaja sings in Tamil, the first time ever for a Ayyappa devotional album, and then the top singers in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu
and Malayalam brought their voices. Ilaiyaraaja also
introduces each song. A triumphant chorus to "One day the
whole world will worship Lord Ayyappa", reminiscent of the "We are the World" global chorus in the 1990's, is on the
Bonus CD, along with other great material.
